Story: 9/10
Read the synopsis for plot overview. The story is very good with a pretty fresh concept. The writing and dialogues are solid. It manages to balance between drama and comedy extremely well. It neither forces down pointless and forced drama nor shoehorns in comedy for the sake of lighten up the atmosphere like other drama seinen anime. Everything feel genuine here which I like a lot. The story is not perfect however, as a lot of plot point are focus on a certain character which annoyed me at times, but I do like that character and because of that character’s problems that we get to as much interesting scenario as we get in the series.
Animation: 10/10
The animation getting a 10 may be an overkill for some, but the reason I gave it that score is because it captures the essence of the manga art style perfectly. Granted, the source material is a coloured web manga series so they can just copy and paste the character design over, but I’m glad that they did just that since the art style is one of the reasons that I like the manga as much as I did. The animation of the series is also solid as they manage the flow between the normal style for normal situation and the chibi style for comedy perfectly as it helps the show unity and does not make the scenes feel segmented.
Sound: 8/10
The soundtrack of the anime is also solid if not a little questionable as it’s mostly consisted piano pieces. They are fine for the most part if not a little repetitive and feel out place at times. However, the opening and endings more than make up for it. The opening “Button” is awesome and its presentation really do a good job to showcase the show as a whole and I did not skip it even once. The number of ending in this series is honestly insane as in almost every episode we get a new ending. As some might think that they would value more quantity than quality, therefore these ending must be suck. And by that I say no, all of the ending end up being quite enjoyable to listen to with some being very good, such as “Asu e no Tobira” and “Yuki no Hana”. I’m listening to these songs while reading this review right now so they must be quite good don’t you think. Each ending also consists of a different picture that can pretty much summarize the whole episode which is a nice touch.
Character: 10/10
The characters in this series in this show are very likeable and fun to watch. I would not call them realistic as each of them have their own quirks. However, the way they act are very realistic and reasonable which making them really easy to related to. Even though I wish the character arc would have been more equally separated as I feel one character gets too much attention and some other don’t. However, at this point in the show, it is quite early in the series so I don’t really mind. The story arises from it is also interesting so I cannot complain. This also one of those rare show that I can confidently say that I like all of the character in the show, main and side characters included. They are very fun to watch (sorry to repeat myself here, I just want to clarify myself a bit further).
Enjoyment: 10/10
I started the manga series since early last year and I have high expectation for this show when it was announced last year. It’s also one of those show that not only meet my expectation but it even manages to even excel in every possible way. The show that was managed to do this in recent years for me was Shokugeki no Soma season 1. I enjoy the show from start to end and the so call “ending” does not bother me at all. I even think that they end it perfectly.
Overall: 9.4
The show is amazing and I believe that it would be one of the best this season and definitely in top 5 for me this season. I strongly recommend this show to those who want a relax show but don’t want the show to be boring to death. Those who seek comedy and grown up problems will most likely find it enjoyable as well. I would like to end this review with one more line. “Read the manga after this as shit is going down in the manga” :]
