What should I say? It's happening again. Packing a really good potential into short rushing 12 episodes and they have done that really... really... bad. So many things left unanswered, messy character building, and a very good story wasted just like that. I don't say that Koutetsujou no Kabaneri is bad but I would say this anime is not that very good either.

They started this anime with a good (and I think) perfect flow, an outstanding animation and music (thumbs up for Sawano Hiroyuki, EGOIST, and Aimer), and last, interesting characters. They got Ikoma, a Kabaneri nerd who creates a piercing gun that could pierce Kabane's heart but has some sister complex issue, then they got a perfectly characterized Mumei, a super OP badass Kabaneri who has a fear of being weak. It was all perfect until they threw a huge bomb into Biba's character and made Biba's character messy as hell. Yup, I said it.

The biggest problem in this anime problably in Biba's character development. I think if they give more information about Biba's background and not throwing Biba into some quick bizzare yet very evil scheme that destroys his character completely (and problably the rest of the series). Biba needs some time to be shympatized by the audience and made into a good character. Then again I want to blame that Koutetsujou no Kabaneri was too short and learning from past animes, a huge universe like this anime should have more episodes than 12 to explain whatever happened to the universe, character developments, and resolving whatever the problem is.

Overall, this anime isn't bad but it's not that very good because of the story that felt rushed and a character (Biba) being undeveloped even he is the main antagonist. But still, I would recommend this series for you who loves a mindblowing animation or eargasming music and soundtrack. The animation is so great yet the music is really... really... great. Lastly, it would be great that if this series has a sequel to resolve whatever they have done to this great potential.
