First of all, the plot was just very uninteresting. The whole thing with Fuko was very meh to me and nothing else plotwise really interested me. The whole thing that happened with her later was sort of interesting, but not fantastic.
Also, this show just doesn't really make me like Nagisa much. I don't really have a lot of analysis here, I just don't really like her character at all.
However, Clannad did have some saving graces. I really enjoyed the interactions between Nagisa's parents and they were probably my two favorite characters in the series. They were also both pretty damn funny.
Also, the main story had some pretty good humor at points too.
But overall, this show ended up as just average. It's main saving grace is that it sets up After Story which is a a really good anime.
