the setting
Set in England a secret organization called hellsing fighting vampire and monsters depending mainly on its super overpowered vampire alucard (dracula) ,badass old butler and hot rocky vampire chick.
plot:
as I said before the hellsing organization has to defend England against an army of Nazi vampires and another army of crusaders. The plot is simple and fairly straightforward it doesn't have complexity neither a lot of plot twist nothing but a bloody feast of violence and gore and mindless action later in the story the author realised that the audience need more than that so he pulled a plot twist near the end to keep people interesting ،the pace to me was okey for the most par,t the story didn't take itself too seriously ,there is some comedic moments that ruined the dark atmosphere.
I hate that shift in tone .
character:
We have alucard the most powerful character in the show and one of the most overpowered character in anime,he is cool ,he is brutal and he is one sadistic motherfucker who kills and fights for the sake of entertainment ،he doesn't give a fuck about the people who are going to die in this war even if they have nothing to do with what's going on، his loyalty to
Integra hellsing is deep yet unexplained and I don't know why he is so loyal to the point he didn't even try to rebel against the organization that kept him captive for half of a century, for the most part of the series he was a one dimensional character but near the end he developed a bit not that much you will enjoy him tearing his opponents apart and making them scream like a little bitch at first that was entertaining and funny but as the show progress you will get tired of seeing hom winning again and again people like stories where the main character have to struggle because of that we could relate to him and keep us guessing is he going to survive, here there is nothing to care about since you know that the main character is so powerful that you can,t feel any danger would harm him that lower the suspense too much for me luckily there was father Anderson who is the rival of alucard , he would keep you interested in his rivalry with alucard the guy also get a good amount of development and depth compared to his counterpart in the original series, moving to other character we have Integra she is the tough leader whose only job for the most part is to smoke cigar and give orders to alucard ,oh yea I almost forgot you have also the big tits police girl who is there to lighten things but she ended having a good amount of development,the funniest and most interesting character is the major with his broken English ,his speeches,his obsession with war and his big belly make for a great villain what disappoint me about him is his master plan which at first I thought was smart but by the end I found how stupid and insane he was.
art and animation:
The character design is great from alucard who look like vash the stampede from trigun to the cool priest Anderson, the animation is fluid and the action sequences are great nothing to complain about.
soundtrack :
Nothing special the first hellsing series has way better ost and had a good opening theme in ultimate there is no opening theme.
verdict:
Hellsing ultimate is action packed series filled with blood and gore it's fun to watch and very enjoyable but thisvis seinen it is supposed to be much more complex and has much more depth ,this anime is the definition of mature from the perceptive of a teenager not an adult, and that's what prevent me from giving it a higher score, hellsing ultimate is no masterpiece just a time killer and enjoyable series to watch.
by the way there is an abridged series on YouTube it's hilarious and funny and much better than the original ova.
