After re watching the first season I decided to give a review for Durarara!! which has been the anime series I got most into in the past two years while its three other seasons were airing. The only thing I would say about this series is that it is very slow pacing for starters which a lot of people seem to hate when they watch anime however if one does stick with it the payoff is really good at a certain point. I would highly recommend this series to anyone who is into slice of life, supernatural, mystery and humor when it comes to their anime.

Durarara!! story revolves around the characters living in the neighborhood Ikebukuro where strange events happen regularly and rumors are about involving a Black motorcyclist and a gang known as the dollars whom nobody knows anything about. The story follows multiple characters not just one main character who all have their own story that makes them end up crossing paths with other characters eventually. I cant say the why and where it all leads to but that is something for you the viewer to find out.

The show will make you ask these questions who is this character? why am I following this character this episode? where is it leading to? which can be asked of the first halve of the show which mainly focuses on introducing key players. These questions do eventually get answered but that is along as you stick around to see the outcome. For the overall story of this show I give a ten.

The art of this series is interesting at best characters are drawn in a particular style that I have not seen in much other anime. The style is the characters are less round and smoothly drawn than characters you see in other anime. This is not actually bad its actually refreshing and suits the series. The characters are designed in a unique way with their interesting outfits they don't look very bland.

The backgrounds in this series are pretty amazing with beautiful shots of city streets and buildings. Ikebukuro being a anime district in japan even has references to other anime in the background on occasion. The extras in the scenes are interestingly drawn. If a character such as a extra has no effect on the story in a given scene the animators draw them as a silhouette I just want to note they don't do this for every scene but its a good way of making characters stand out from the crowed most of the time. I would give the art a nine out of ten for its uniqueness.

The ost for this anime are songs that usually are used to set the mood of what is happening. If something fishy is happening fishy type of music is played which kind of happens a lot. The opening themes and ending are also very awesome. The voice actors also carry the emotions and tone of characters well to know who is in the right and wrong.

Time to get onto my favorite part the characters. There is really no main character in this series, if there was it would have to be Mikado who was introduced first. Any one who watches this series tends to have a different favorite character mine being Shizuo for being a bada$$ and good guy while other would favor characters like Izaya who have a weird set of ideals they live by. All characters in this series have a major quirk weather its a talent, part of their personality or how they live which makes them above normal.

I don't want to talk much more about the characters because I dont want to spoil anything but they are what carry to story of this series and the episodes that introduce and develop them are the building blocks of what makes this series great. The characters in this series I would give a Ten.

All in all my enjoyment of the series is a ten considering I binge watched the 24 episode show in three days when I first watched it and I enjoy watching it again.
