INTRO
Before re-watching this,I said to myself that I ain't the same kid anymore and it can't hurt me emotionally again but I was wrong, doesn't matter how many times you watch this, damn the feels are real.

For more than a decade Makoto Shinkai has given us some amazing works but over here we're talking about "5 Centimeters Per Second" his most renowned work and one of the most important projects, which made him the person he is today.

PLOT
The story is about two young lovers who eventually get separated by distance, and as they grow, they try to hold on to each other, but this is no romance anime with fateful encounters, unrealistic moments and a sugary ending and there is three act to the story.

The first act (cherry blossom) This is the most beautiful of all,in simple this is the part where the main characters fell in love ,had their romance, experienced the happiest time of their lives, literally broke up and part away.

The second act (Cosmonaut) With the introduction of a new character, this follow the characters growing up individually apart but still sharing the feeling for each other.

Final act (5 centimeters per second) This is the most tragic part focusing on their adult life, the theme loneliness and distance is depicted fully.

ANIMATION
The animation is quite astonishing ,every scene is done brilliantly with no place to complain.
From the cherry blossom to the very last train scene,it feels so realistic and close to heart and the animation should be considered as the strongest part of the entire film,it's like you can find deeper meaning in each frame.

MUSIC
Another impressive point beside animation is the music, right in the feel with every tone and the ending theme "one more time ,one more chance" by Masayoshi Yamazaki couldn't have fit any better.

FINAL THOUGHT
The human heart is fragile, call it a bad or good thing,Shinkai loves to play with it and he was at his peak with "5CMPS"
Unlike most of the story where fairy tales happen with a happy ending,it's the exact opposite of that, the ending is something that many people failed to accept, not only it will leave us depress for weeks but at the same time it will also expose us to the harsh reality we try to ignore or from which we run away.
Although the story is quite simple but still it's so close to the heart,it mixed with the animation and music so perfectly which seem to make it look extraordinary.
Nothing more to say,a genuine masterpiece.
