The first I saw of this show was a gif on my Tumblr dash, and I was drawn to the animation-- great style, smooth incorporation of CGI to traditional animation, over all stunning artistically. Since I am a person who enjoys not looking at synopsi when watching a show, I decided to give the show an episode or two.

When I began watching the show, I was HOOKED. Amazing plot line, interesting conflict, and the main character had very interesting characterization. However, with watching episode 5, I was disgusted, and remained so until roughly episodes 7/8.

See, the thing that got me hooked was the main character's alienation from the humans that surround him. Though with episodes 5-8, the main character experiences "what it is truly like to be human", which the anime displays as being a glutton at a festival and watching belly dancers at a bar. It was sickening to watch these already sexualized female character become tools to the plot line. To make it worse, the main character is forced into a romantic relationship with the lead female, resulting in a half-assed subplot that allows for "motivation" for the lead during the final episode.

But the ending of the show deals with some existential questioning of what is means to be human, which salvages the show from the grinder is was put in mid-season.

Overall, this show is alright. The only good character in the show is the main character, and the females are all a joke, but the plot was intriguing enough to keep me from trashing the show after the fifth episode.
