SHORT REVIEW: I loled, I liked the pervy bits, the art style is good, it's fun.
If you'd like a somewhat ecchi, cooking school anime version of Iron Chef, you'll like this.
LONGER REVIEW: "Sorry everyone," I don't know why there are so many hater reviews on here. Seriously. I suspect this show just wasn't their style, in which case I don't know why they continued watching it.
I'm extremely picky with my anime. Ya gotta be, there's so much out there, and everyone likes something different. Instead of being a pretentious douche about it, I'll tell you what I like and if it seems to be your style as well, check out this show.
- The synopsis is pretty standard, the story is eh, but the show is still really enjoyable. I'm a fan of slice-of-life stories, so I don't care if we're hurtling towards some great outcome, I just enjoy the show.
- Art style is one of the most important things for me, and I really liked the style here. This anime is very aware of other anime, and pokes fun at a lot of them with its style. Otherwise it's very cute, and I really enjoy all the ecchi scenes. ALL OF THEM. Funny way to show taste, in a show about FOOD.
- There are too many characters, so the main ones don't get a lot of development, and some are stereotypical. BUT they need a lot of characters to diversify the battles and school. Otherwise it's just Soma v Challenger, Soma v Challenger, Soma v Challenger. It wouldn't work without them. And it would be boring if it were just Polar Star. Also it's not a serious show, so there's not serious development. Again, it's just enjoyable. Yes there's a lot of moe, I'm totally fine with that.
- It's a funny show, it's not meant to be serious, seems a lot of people are missing that. It will seriously make you hungry though. The fictional food looks amazing, and makes me want to cook and eat only amazing gourmet things.
