Mushishi is one of a kind anime, with a slow paced story, each episode has its own plot with new characters who won't be seen again, except for the mushishi: Ginko, he travels and stops in towns to cure abnormal diseases caused by creatures called "mushi".

This anime has a very nice and serene atmosphere without any violence, just a bit of drama from time to time.
Ginko is both fascinating and enigmatic, during the show, we get to learn stuff about him and his past, he always tries to cure diseases by using his large knowledge without harming human nor mushi.
It's interesting to discover new kinds of mushi, the consequences on concerned people, how they have been living with it, and the way it can be cured, the concept of mushi is very innovative.
The art seems simple, colors are pale which make the characters and scenery relaxing (makes me think of Usagi Drop), it's a very enjoyable side of this anime as well as the fantastic part.

Mushishi doesn't have a "real main plot", but it doesn't make it boring either.
