"I met the girl under the full-bloomed cherry blossoms, and my fate has begun to change."
Story (10/10)
The story revolves around a young boy, Arima Kousei, who was a piano prodigy, unable to continue to play the piano due to trauma from his mother's death. Everything seemed monochrome to him until he met a girl in April. A violinist who plays music the way she wants, not bounded by the music score. Violent, cheerful, forceful and ... beautiful.
This is my second time watching a music based anime, what can I say haha. As a violinist and self taught pianist, I enjoyed the story more than I originally thought I would. A rather heart warming, touching anime I'd say. If you're the one who likes to board on feel trains like AnoHana, Steins Gate... then this is for you :3.
Art (10/10)
The art and animation are done by A-1 Pictures. Dazzling, colourful and original. What else can I ask for?
Sound (10/10)
The sound tracks are phenmonenal! I am now officially a classical music fan(although I was exposed to classicals earlier from learning violin XD) after watching this anime. The anime introduced a lot of Chopin, Beethoven and Saint seans's great pieces. Definitely a 10/10.
Character (10/10)
Each of the characters are well developed. I feel like I know these characters. Well given it's a 22 ep series it's not suprising. Nothing much to discuss here.
Enjoyment (10/10)
I enjoyed the series though the beginning was abit cliché to me haha. It taught me a lot about a performing musician's life.
"Even though you are scared, you still have to perform as we are musicians!". This quote is now my motto everytime I perform in a gig haha.
Definitely one of my fav anime of all times.
Overall (10/10)
I started the series in April and watched the last episode on 1st of May. (Maximum feels!)
In a nutshell, I enjoyed this anime a lot. A heart-warming breather amidst of the many Moe-based animes.
If you're a fan of slice of life, I highly recommend you to give Shigatsu a try!
Last but not least, Mozart said, "Go on a journey!"
