After suffering a emotional feel destruction from Clannad After story I needed a series that was going to make me positive again. Nichijou is an extremely simple slice of life series that focus primarily on comedy provided by very witty characters with a unique animation style to boot. I am going to miss this show and hope some day it gets some kind of season two as the manga is apparently still ongoing as I am writing this review. If you are looking for comedy than this series is for you.

Story 9/10

I put the story down a mark because there is no real story to this show other than the character Nano who is a robot wanting to become more human. The episode in the series consist of comedy skits from principle character fighting a deer to a skit where a crow is talking. Majority of the skits focus on students of a high school while other skits focus on A professor and a robot in a laboratory. Some of these skits are absolutely hilarious which is pretty much what I ask of the show. If you are looking for a slice of life with some kind of story and lack a sense of humor you will not want to watch this show however if like me you are here for the comedy than this is a show for you.

Art 10/10

When you look at the art for the first time you will think "well this is kind of dull and not as shiny as other anime". The art style in this series does not look very expensive. However this pays off in various weird action scenes where the animation changes to instill more humor and wackiness. The character designs are neutral in terms of their design as they do not look too wacky or boring.

Sound 9/10

The OST for the series is used usually where the music is most suitable especially in scenes of humor where very archaic music is used to reference the characters humorous struggles. The characters voices in the subbed version of the show I was watching are on point with in terms of emotion you can get a sense of the character being angry or sad or absolutely frustrated. Sound effects used for action scenes are on point with making the viewer more glued into what is happening.

Character 10/10

Getting to know the characters in this series through comedy is what Nichijou does best. You have the three main girl characters Yuuko, Mio and Mai who get the most screentime in the series who get into hilarious situations every episode. Getting to know these characters more you can enjoy the comedy surrounding them better while the same comedy develops their character for later skits. We also have the Professor and Nano who take the same portion of screen time who get caught in situation where experiments go wrong. Supporting characters also get their own share of screen time with each being interesting.

Enjoyment 10/10

I have gotten what I want out of this series which is Comedy. I will more than likely in the future look at some of the skits on YouTube to get a chuckle every now and then.

Overall 10/10
