In this review I will try to explain the reasons why this show and other good shows are underrated. I will start by stating 3 reasons and proceed to break them down in detail.

1. Some People can't follow a story because they're slow.
2. People don't actually know what a good story is.
3. People start watching shows with preconceived ideas of what the show is.

Point number 1: Some people are just slow. Sorry, but not everyone out there can follow a story especially fast paced ones. I don't think that Kekkai Sensen has a fast paced story, but people will be trying to look for a main plot in all the madness instead of understanding that in the first part of the story (And a little bit throughout.) it's just trying to show you how crazy and hectic everyday is for the lives of the characters in this world. The people who do this won't even be able to understand what they should, and will probably be missing out on the comedy too. Which is a real shame because I thought that this show is one of the best comedies I've seen.

Point number 2: I can't see how people can say that this anime has, “No plot.” or say that the non-linear story is a bad thing. It baffles me how people don't want something to be cliché, and then turn around and complain that the story didn't follow the typical progression of other shows. How ironic. The definition of cliché is: “Being predictable and unimaginative; falling into a groove of human boredom; an old tired trend.” Don't you think that following the usual linear story progression would be the unimaginative thing to do? Rather then having your own unique way of telling the story? So when someone complains about a story that doesn't follow the typical progression of every other show out there, take their opinion with a grain of salt. Just because it doesn't fit into their mold of what they believe to be, “The correct way.” of telling a story. By all means doesn't make it bad. As for the, “No plot.” argument, people will think that just because the story they're watching may not have something to do with the main plot means that nothing is happening. This is just stupid. Even if it doesn't involve the main plot directly, that doesn't make it filler or any less interesting. (Unless nothing is actually happening.) Because the stuff that's happening is happening to the characters and there is still a story being told and lessons to be learned from. At the end of the day a plot is just stuff that happens to your characters and characters are one of the most important things in a good story. People may disagree with me on this point, but if you don't have good characters no one's gonna care what happens to them.

Point number 3: People need to just watch shows for what they are. Let the show itself be what it is. Instead of going into it with expectations of what you think it'll be. People who go into something with expectations like that will only hurt themselves, and miss a chance to actually enjoy or experience something new. It's like someone walks into a sushi joint thinking it's a Chinese restaurant trying to order some Chinese chicken. They get served some sushi. They eat some, spit it out, and say, “This chicken is awful!” Then they have the audacity to go online and write a review of the place. That sushi joint could have the best sushi ever, but if you were expecting Chinese chicken you'll be disappointed.

One last thing I wanted to mention is that there are also the people who say that the characters were underdeveloped because of how many there are. This is not true. The main characters had plenty of development. Does that mean they answered every little question you had about them? No, but that was intentional. If you explain every little detail about every character and why they act the way they do, you will destroy any mystery to that character and not leave any room for the viewer to think for themselves about why the characters might be acting the way they are.

This is my first review, and most certainly won't be my last. Please click that helpful button if you found any of this useful. Keep it real, peace.
