Ever Since I got into anime back in 2011, there has always been one series that everyone else has seen and recommended for all to see but i was hesitant to do so.
That series Is Clannad and its Sequal After Story, This is because it was a Romance/Drama series but even more so cause it is ,,if not the biggest tear jerker series that has ever been released. I avoid series that are tragic in general as i hate it when im exposed to tragedy and this was no exception so i said to myself..no..no..no ..but than i finally gave up and decided that does it..im going to watch it at least once and get it over with.
HoHo..man this was such a good series...no wonder everyone recommends it. Yes it is a tear jerker but at the same time the slice of life and the drama and romance is the real key componet that makes it so great...it is very different from what i have ever seen in a anime series before...it is no wonder that it is basically at the top on almost everybody list of fav romance/ slice of life lists. The characters were really and i mean really well built. Okozaki and Nagisa...uhh they just jumped to one of my fav love couples ever.
The soundtrack is god like...i still can't get the Dango Dango Family song out of my head and whoever did the composition for the music..each one of them fits and are used at the right moments.
The Animation is amazing..especially in After Story..it is like watching a beautiful scenery you would see in high quality canvas especially the background scenery really gorgeous .the details even for the simplistic stuff where great and wonderful. the first series had a bit of trouble with its animation as they were a few derp moments but for the most part it was still great.
Yes It did break my heart. Which is exactly why it took so damn long to start as i was hesitant to do so. After Story in particular was one hell of a heart breaker..(no spoilers but it will tear you apart) In Fact this whole series actually finds a good balance between its comedic moments, its dramatic moments, sad moments and serious moments all in one package. It took me three weeks to finish this show..the emotional roller coster was at times to much to deal with i had to slow down at moments.
Bottom Line Clannad 8/10..After Story 10/10. This is definitely one series that everyone has to see at least once in there life time. Basically one of those compulsory titles that every series otaku needs to watch. i will tell you this..it will definitively leave a lasting impression.
