Story
WARNING TRIGGERS!! if you have triggers with depression and child abuse watch with discretion because these themes are very large in this anime. Though I liked how careful and respectful they were they also made sure to show the horror of the themes. The pacing is awesome with scenes staying at the perfect length and not being dragged out. The only problem was the end. I was okay with the end and I was very happy but the way they got to the ending felt lazy.
Sound and Presentation
As for art it was different. It had a realistic look to but with also a anime look as well I wasn't the best looking anime out of winter but the animation was fluent and masterful. As for sound the casts voices were perfect and fit the character. The music was perfect fitting in all parts of the show but wasn't overflowing the anime. The music was haunting, beautiful, and magical all at the same time.
Characters
The characters were interesting. some wormed the heart, broke the heart, interested me, and out scared the shit of me. Satoru was a interesting lead. In the beginning I thought he would be a usual flat lead, but turned into much more, he became a true and believable lost person that only wanted to save his friends. Kayo is also interesting with her seaming like a emotionless person becomes a broken person that puts up walls to protect herself because of her abuse. all characters are amazing in this show and are layered and interesting characters.
Final thoughts
Though it has slight issues it's a dark and inserting time travel story with awesome characters, and good art and sound. I highly recommend this anime.
