Story 9/10
The story of Clannad follows a troubled student named Tomoya who one day meets a girl named Nagisa who has to repeat a year and wants to restart the drama club. The story focuses on Tomoya and Nagisa trying to start up the club and gather members. The story spends a few episodes with a topic that focuses on different character. Its basically a school slice of life show where a character gets a arc about them. The only problem I had was the pacing in relation to the set up of the drama club as I felt it was something that should have been done 12 episodes in.
Art 9/10
The art in Clannad is average for a school life anime as what you will see is students in uniform in similar classrooms throughout the show. The animation budget goes into real use in scenes depicting a girl who is animated in 2d and a robot in cgi along with the cgi backgrounds in those scenes. In those scenes we get some really beautiful animation however it only occurs for a short time in the show.
sound 8/10
sound was good in this anime, I was not a big fan of the opening but the background music was done correctly in the scenes that needed it the most. Character voices give a sense of emotion during conversation which is nice to have.
Character 10/10
Clannad shines the most with its characters. All the characters in this show both male and female are interesting and all have an interesting backstory to their character that makes them more interesting. All the characters seem to be catnip for tragedy. Our main character Tomoya is a guy without anything to go on with in life due to his misfortunes. What makes him a interesting character is how he is changing himself when engaging with other characters as the story progresses.
Enjoyment 9/10
I enjoyed Clannad and am now watching after story (with another crying bet). The conclusion to the story was Ok but I wish there was more to it.
