I have for the longest time been avoiding watching this anime do to the hype and the very sad ending I knew would befall one of the characters.
I tend to watch series after the hype has died down because I'm more skeptical on weather a series will be good without basing my opinion based on mainstream views. However, they were right about this.
I enjoy musical anime. I find it quite entertaining and I really enjoyed the focus on classical music, it was beautiful but what I loved even more was the artwork. I felt the animation during the music scenes really made those moments pop.
I enjoyed the movement between the past and present through the varies character perspectives, it made the anime a lot more rounder.
I found what made Kousei a real genius was how his music impacted so many people in his life and how music is the very essence of his soul. It felt wonderful that such a variety of characters got to be flushed out and made you care about them because of their relationship to Kousei.
The story itself is filled with much foreshadowing but nothing to in your face. More subtle with lots of symbolism. Its a visual treat really.
I watched the english dubbed and I have to say it was well done. I felt all the actors fit their characters well. It truly was music to my ears.
