School Days is an anime I came across by various sources warning me: "Do NOT watch this Anime, it's not worth it!" So I watched it.

If you're looking for an Anime that's: unique, realistic, romance, has a good plot twist, and makes your stomach feel funny due to hard hitting frustration, anger, pity, and melancholy - Please watch. This as an anime that makes you think - so it's a good idea to have a discussion with a friend about it when you're done.

I think School Days is a brilliant representation of real life for the most part.
The protagonist, Makoto, (SPOILER) starts off as most males do - shy when it comes to females. He ends up having sex with pretty much the WHOLE female cast. This is surprisingly easy for many people to empathize with, especially if you're going through your 'Awakening' phase of life.

Let me say what I don't like about this anime: The very bland development of Makoto. I feel they had more than enough content to develop Makoto in an intriguing way, but they instead focused on other characters.

What I like: Pretty much everything else. It's an interesting and hyper realistic story (overlooking the end here) that portrays an adolescent boy who lets sex control him completely. You also have different girls, with completely different personalities, reacting in their own way.

The end (not-so-realistic) was a out-of-the-blue plot twist which is sown together fairly well with the story and development of characters. But (to all those who told me not to watch it because of it's shitty ending) - It is full of metaphorical meaning. It also helps ease your mind after thinking "Makoto's such a jerk".

School Days shows the hardships of not being able to control your sexual desire, as well as how different people react to their desires. It depicts situations that are very real and the reactions to these situations are realistic too. It's easy to empathize with the different characters (my favorite is Kotonoha) and they are all very different from each other.

Everyone should watch it simply because it teaches you something. It's like the big brother that tells you "I will show you what NOT to do".
