Parasyte was, in my opinion a very good anime, which dealt a lot with the idea of humanity, parasites and what makes them different. The main story takes place in the regular human world in Japan and focuses on a high school student named Shinichi Izumi whose hand is taken over by what's known as a parasite who later is named Migi. The story starts when alien like pods drop unnoticed from the sky in various parts of the world and inside are these oddly shaped insects that are primed with infiltration a human brain and devouring it only to mature and become in control of the human itself. When I first watched this anime I thought that the design and animation was very good but it wasn't until further into the anime that certain characteristics and formalities of both Shinichi and Migi are brought into question by each other. The reason why I enjoyed this anime so much is that all I expected was a decent story and animation and what I got out of it was that on top of deep ideas that went unanswered because there was no clear answer and many viewpoints on perspective. The art style and sound were good but its nothing amazing compared to other anime that takes place in a generic Japan setting. The story was pretty good but I feel like there was a lack of consequence in the story mainly due to how people often ignore things that they don't want to deal with and society moves on whether or not a few people get hurt or die. When I say this I mean that mainly with Sinichi the plot takes him through many situations and it seems that police or other aids are mostly absent, ignored, or skipped over making it feel as if these things weren't important. The characters were very well written in the sense that Shinichi is just a regular high school boy with normal parents going to a normal school, but it is how the story progresses and the plot and setting changes the characters in many ways and also keeps the characters the same in other ways. Migi is a major character which spurs on a lot of the character development that is seen in the anime because he is some creature attached onto a humans arm and interdependent with him. Migi's character is that he is constantly trying to understand the world around him from an objective standpoint knowing later that he has to adjust his perspective to understand humans and their emotions. Overall The anime is very well written and I believe that it is as good as it is because it had great ideas that gave general characters a lot of feeling and perspective.
