"I'm granting you the right to bring any one thing of your choosing with you... Nobody's expecting much from a shut-in game otaku anyway. Hurry up and decide." ~ Aqua
"'Hurry up and decide?' huh? I'll do just that, then... Okay, I pick you." ~ Kazuma Satou

Ooh boy, where to start with this one? If I had to sum it up, man that anime can make me laugh, almost on the same level as Sket Dance, and let me tell you, that ain't an easy feat to overcome.

Story: 5/10

What, you expect a story? That is a good one. While by no means was it terribly executed, the whole concept of basically being stuck in an RPG situation is nothing revolutionary, especially now a days. Especially for an anime like this, you have to go in pretty much not expecting a story; you watch this mainly for some mild fan-service and laughs.

Basically, you have this otaku/NEET who dies due to shock (in a hilarious way of course) and he is reborn into an RPG. He is supposedly supposed to kill this horrifically evil demon king or something, but hell, at least in this season, don't expect anything that complex. Just expect to have a simple and good time with a group who can barely complete the easiest of quests and can barely afford a living and even when they do, it is sometimes in the most ironic of ways.

I was just disappointed that the whole series was so short, but I think it was because of this brevity that the show was able to go full out with its hilarities and whatnot, though even a couple of more episodes would definitely not have disappointed me.

Art: 7/10

The art for this is, like the story, nothing special. The setting is in a typical town found in most other RPG stories and once again, there is nothing that extraordinary or amazing that just pops out at me, except maybe the characters, but that's probably because they are the focus of the show.

I will say though that the entire show is very bright and vibrant and even when something "dark" and "serious" is happening, it still remains to give off a very colorful vibe and retains a silly/humorous atmosphere. It is because of this vibrant feeling that the art gives off that makes up for the fact that the art itself is nothing special, at least, in terms of other RPGs.

Each character, expectedly, have a different class and their outfits do match accordingly to their classes and definitely helps them stand out and helps define their standing, if that makes sense.

As expected, this anime definitely did have quite a bit of fan-service, though despite having some, it was surprisingly tame, for the most part (except here and there), and definitely gave off the impression that the anime was not using fan-service to derive all its humor, which is always a pleasure to see.

Sound: 6/10

I sadly do not remember much of the OST and none of it really stuck to me, but from what I remember, it definitely did match whatever situation was present. While nothing special, it was definitely appropriate given the different situations.

Sadly, at least for me, the opening theme was nothing too special either. I felt as if it was too similar to other RPG anime opening themes, but hell, maybe that was the point of it. It gave off a vibe of a typical new adventure and whatnot and just in general felt very average.

Really do wish I could talk more about the sound/music and whatnot, but nothing really sticks to my mind.

Characters: 9/10

Now the characters, they're quite a handful. Probably the thing that stuck out to me the most was the fact that you have a group of some of the best classes possible, though all the users themselves do not how to "use" the classes properly and end up being saved by the protagonist, who in fact has pretty much the second to worst class. He is also the one who is pretty much the breadwinner of the group and is thanks to him that they can go as far as they can.

Another thing that definitely stuck to me was the interaction of this group. By god, this must have been one of the funniest groups to watch and experience as no one knew what they were doing and everyone was just so utterly incompetent. Normally, I would be very annoyed with incompetence (that's just how I am), but given just given that the level of incompetence was so extreme and the only one who had an inkling of how to do things was the "shut-in game Otaku," how could you be anything but amused?

All of this was elevated even further because of the absolute strengths of the voice actors. Having a main cast consisting of Rie Takahashi, Sora Amamiya, Ai Kayano, and Jun Fukushima, only a pot of gold and nothing less was waiting for at the end of the rainbow. All of them genuinely (at least, I definitely hope so) seemed to be having a good time and I definitely wanted to see what other shenanigans were going to present themselves. While none of the other sounds definitely stuck with me, it is the voice acting that still remains in my mind and I can definitely remember some of the lines and how they were delivered, just absolute greatness.

Enjoyment: 10/10

Did I enjoy this anime? Most definitely, I have not laughed this much in a long time. Do I recommend this to others? If you love having a laugh and just seeing silly shenanigans and pretty much no plot, go for it. I came in not expecting much and just hoping to see some silly acts and absolutely no plot and I was promised that exactly. That is, what I think, the way to enjoy this anime: do not expect anything and just expect to have a simple and good time.
