Although the plot is very simple and bounds around ' saving the school' and Love Live! School Idol Project is often criticised because it is only focused on the subject of idols, it has a fantastic art style and it has a beautiful soundtrack, so even though it has such an easy plot, it is able to express the feelings of each and every of the 9 characters, which I think is fantastic because a lot of anime series that are popular nowadays do not really build up the characters even if it's just the main character, but Love Live! School Idol Project is absolutely smooth with that and is able to build not one character, but the 9 main characters in the show.
Love Live! School Idol Project is focused not necessarily on being an idol, but moreover the challenges that one faces and how to overcome them with the help of others. The 9 protagonists go through a series of events that tightens their bond, and eventually they part ways. Love Live! School Idol Project is a generally happy story, but it may just tear your heart when they decide to go their separate ways, because you may get so attached to the characters.
Personally, this is a very heartbreaking anime for me, and I don't even know why. Normally, even anime like Clannad can't get to me, or even the famous Shigatsu Wa Kimi No Uso. Therefore, I truly believe that if you are a huge fan of the 'Slice of Life' genre, you should definitely put this on your watchlist.
