Appleseed XIII falls short comparing it to the movies, it's every bit political and action packed as any previous anime or movies but slower. In a way they made this more into a love story, it is extremely repetitive almost every episode repeats "the story so far" it feels like almost a quarter of the time you'r re-watching the dialog's and scenes you already saw, and the plot holes can't talk about it because i don't want to give spoilers but there is so much stuff with no answers.
The animation wasn't disgraceful, just distracting, world wise it's good but character's wise it looks bad, the action scenes were good enough i guess, i'm not a big fan of CGI since almost everytime it looks bad, rush or cheap, so don't take my word on this because you need to see to know if you like the animation style.
Overall:
If you are not a huge fan of Appleseed franchise skip this, and watch the remix movies instead, since is the same but takes you less time.
