Konosuba, the show I picked up because DAYMN DAT MINISKIRT! Welcome to konosuba, a show that some might mistake as generic otaku pandering crap. But I see it as genius. Seriously though, Aqua’s design is pretty erotic, Her skirt is so short you can see her butt, and she doesn't wear panties. I mean there are times when she bends over a LOT and you’re thinking, woah no panties. CUZ SHE DOESN’T WEAR EM’! Aaaaand this isn’t helping my case on proving this show is great. But in all seriousness, this is probably one of the more original shows to come out in a while with characters that don’t mold into a cookie cutter. Not to mention, this is EASILY on my top 10 funniest anime. It’s usually hard to have a full on comedy anime. Because alot of the time the show will just get stale if all it relies on are jokes. Most of the funniest animes I’ve seen usually combine comedy with another genre. Typically with the romance and action genre.But despite this show being a pure comedy, it does NOT get old. But rather, it leaves the viewer wanting more. SERIOUSLY THIS IS A DISGRACE ANIME KEEP GETTING SHORTER AND SHORTER AND THIS SHOW DIDN’T EVEN MANAGE TO GET 12 EPISODES!
Konosuba is genuinely hilarious. Konosuba is a parody on cliche RPG’s. There are so many parodies on RPG’s online that you would think that every joke that could be made has been done already. But this show introduces us to a really derpy and overly goofy RPG world. That encompases giant frogs, killer cabages, AND EVIL DANGOS!!! Eat shit nagisa! What makes this show different from your typical animated RPG parody online is that they put so much effort into making the world of this show increasingly more fucking retarded episode by episode. What an internet parody won’t do is build it’s own incredibly autistic world. And what a typical internet parody ALSO wouldn’t do is actually put effort into making the characters good. I mean seriously, every character in this cast is unique, funny and have good chemestry with each other. You got kazuma who other than his design isn’t generic at all. Usually when you think of a main guy in an anime filled with cute girls. You think of a total wimp or a cliche nice guy. Kazuma on the other hand is a perverted, jaded asshole.
He’s basically the straight man of the group pointing out the stupidity of the other characters. But Kazuma himself being a total asshole and pervert also creates alot of funny gags himself. Then you got Aqua, who’s basically a goddess who got DAT ASS! Seriously if you’re like me and you’ll pick up an anime for T-T-TINY MINISKIRTS! Then this anime definiately delivers. But as for her character, she’s basically incredibly arrogant with nothing to show. And she’s so useless despite being a “godess” that seeing her fail constantly is not only cathertic but funny. Then you got megumin, who is basically a goofy little girl that has an obsession with explosions. But fear not as she’s not as much of an idiot as micheal bay. Key word of that sentence was “AS”. Honestly her obession with exploding things puts the characters in some pretty awkward situations. As she ya know, BLEW UP SOMEONES CASTLE AND NOW HE WANTS REVENGE! Then you got darkness. She’s basically a masocistic pervert. She’s easily the weakest character out of the main four. As she lacks character traits outside of being a masocistic pervert. But just seeing a female anime pervert is usually releiving as it’s almost always the guy. And her whole masocist thing is ALWAYS being used, even during fights. Making the gag hilarous. And the gag unlike brocks gag in pokemon is done in more varity despite not being used limitedly.
Other than the amazing humor and great cast to compliment the comedy, there isn’t much else to say. I mean I will give this show props for not attemping to be mellodramatic and then failing. SCHOOL RUMBLE I’M LOOKING AT YOU! But honestly this show probably could benefit from having slightly more emotion. There is one emotional moment in episode 7 that shows that despite the fact that all the girls in the show, are ya know, FUCKING BIZZARE, kazuma still loves being with them. And he cries when he is faced with the fact that he might lose them. However in spite of that, I still feel like the characters where somewhat fleshed out. The main character goes from being a jaded otaku nerd….to a slightly less jaded otaku nerd! Another strong point of this show, is even though it’s 10 episodes it doesn’t feel slow paced. Because weirdly enough, this show does a really good job on showing the passing of time. You really feel like the characters have been on this long journey for months. Even though you could probably watch this show in 4 hours. See what makes this show great is not really the character development. But more or less getting to see this journey of this hilarus rpg world that just keeps getting funnier and funnier.
Another thing that makes this world good is the artstyle. THe fucking animation itself looks goofy as hell some times. The characters look really off model all the time. Usually that’s seen as a bad thing but that just compliments to the derpy nature of this show. See with dragonball super, the shitty artwork just destroys your emmersion. While with konosuba, ironically the bad art actually ADDS to the experiance. Not to mention, the colors in this show are beautiful.… What studio even made this anime. Studio deen. Studio deen…. STUDIO DEEN STUDIO DEEN STUDIO DEEN!!! PEOPLE DIE WHEN THEY ARE KILLED!!!!!
Also I’d like to mention that this show does one thing right that not many shows do correctly. Boob sizes. In most shows they usually draw the boobs in one size. It makes sense because animes are usually adapted from a manga. And typically artists have an easier time drawing the boob size they are use to drawing rather than having varitiy… I would know because I am an artist. This show has 3 main girls and all 3 with different breast sizes. You got megumin whos uhhh… probably underaged and I probably shouldn’t be commenting on that! (Sirens) IT’S A CARTOON, IT’S NOT A REAL GIRL WHAT DID I DO WRONG!!!!! Then aqua with medium size tities and DAT BUTT! And then darkness with boobs so big you’d probably have to be around the age of 13 to like those things. Hey guys, boob sizes matter HASHTAG BOOB SIZES MATTER!!!
