Shirobako is not your usual Slice of Life that you see nowadays. The story itself is about how life works at an anime studio, so it tells us technically how these things that we watch are made, and of course, in a different and enjoyable way. We wouldn't want those kinds of "documentary" thingy in these kinds of anime.

Character wise, the characters themselves are very appealing (cute, yeah.), but not in a flashy way. They keep the appeal in moderation while focusing on how those looks reflect their own personalities. The characters are also made quite, realistically. You are seeing an anime about people working, yet you can still see the qualities of each character like other Slice of Life animes do. The traits of each characters blends beautifully and making an environment that does reflect how real people work, yet enjoyable for us to watch.

The story was, exceptionally unique. It's something you rarely see in the trend of animes these days. You can see how the characters struggle day by day in order to make their lives worth in the anime industry. They retell these daily lives with each characters' own story, while building up slowly to create an anime that will be memorable. The detail given to those character stories' are very detailed and immense, and sometimes it gave you life lessons for you to think.

Long story short, I think this anime portrays the essence of reality the most compared to all of the animes I've seen. No characters are geniuses and prodigies. Teamwork and creativity is the root of everything. It's taking us away from the usual mainstream Slice of Life animes, and bringing us to a new vision of a world where reality is a thing to be concerned with, in an enjoyable experience.
