Oh shinsekai yori, how i loved you in the first 5 episodes. I didn't watch this as it was coming out, in fact i just finished watching this, but im pretty sure this is split into two seasons as to how randomly things changed after about 14 episodes. I am going to say that Shinsekai Yori has a beautiful soundtrack, and really interesting art style, that is very eye catching. The story is compelling at first but then get's really....confusing.

The characters definitely take the lowest score here. I thought Saki was .....distasteful? Is that the right word? Basically she made way too many mistakes that by the end I just hated her. Satoru had great development on the other hand. I started off hating him, but by the end he was an okay guy.

The story is very mysterious at first, and for the first few episodes I was eager to keep watching to see what happened next. But after a specific episode, the entire story seemed to change, and that's where this anime lost me. It was like, "okay theres this issue, its mysterious and all of us kids need to figure it out!" and then it changed to a political war. Maybe this anime was too heavy for me, just because the story seemed to be all over the place. I will say though, for the second half of the anime it was very interesting! The second half and the first half just seem like different stories.

The overall message was clear in the end, but there were a lot of plot holes and questions that needed to be answered. I feel like maybe they had too many ideas and not enough episodes to fit it all so they crammed everything into 25 episodes.

Overall a 7/10 simply because i feel like it was all over the place. It's one of those where you need to watch it a second time to really see the message, which isn't a bad thing, it just means that it requires more attention to all the details. Which for a first time viewer can easily be missed.
