Shokugeki no Souma is an enjoyable and fun show, but suffers from a bit of repetitiveness. Our main character at the behest from his father sets off to a super elite cooking school to hone his skill. Along the way he meets an interesting cast of characters and competes in Shougeki's. These Shokugeki's are tournaments competing cook against cook. The loser faces everything from expulsion to having their club house torn down. The way our main character manages to impress the judges, make enemies and craft innovation food dishes on the spot is what makes this series shine.

Pros:
+ Main character is very likable. He's mentally tough and has a good head on his shoulders. Not a weakling.
+ School life theme mixed with tournament style battles.
+ Comedy

Questionable:
~ Ecchi elements seem mostly out of place. When people eat good food their clothes start to disappear in orgasmic bliss. While I love me ecchi stuff it seemed a little out of place here.

Cons:
- Repetitive in many instances. The reactions when people taste food become predictable. I found myself wanting to skip a few of those moments to get back into the meaty part of the story and challenges.
- Some of the characters don't get fully fleshed out.

Key Notes

* At the time of this review there is currently only one season. As a result the story is not complete! Thankfully a season 2 is in the works!

I enjoyed the show. It's not great or fantastic but it is good and worth your time. At least check out the first 3 episodes. That gives you a real indication for what to expect.
