Looking at my fellow reviewers I see the general pattern of "There's no story." They're right, there is no story. In that sense it really is closer to the slice of life genre rather than fantasy. It's basically giving you a day to day perspective of level 1 adventures with no real meaning past surviving as they slowly make progress. Very slow, like it would be IRL. Not like in a random MMORPG where you could get to level 20 in one day if you know what you're doing.
However, story isn't what this anime is focusing on at all, so there's no real point in saying it's an issue. It'd be like saying "This ecchi series has a bad story..." Yeah...Well, that's true for 99% of any ecchi anime. Ecchi shows focus on ecchi and humor, not story. So that point is moot.
If you're going to watch this show, you have to view it from the perspective of the characters: they're normal, they've never fought a day in their life, and they have no memories of their lives before they arrived in this world suddenly. Would you be any different? I know sure as hell I wouldn't.
So again: this is a REALISTIC fantasy anime, and should be viewed as such. If you want flashy action anime and possibly something that'll make you laugh out loud rather than make you giggle here and there, go watch Konosuba - It's hilarious and it's also another fantasy anime that came out this season.
But if you want an anime you can relate to, and possibly feel something towards, watch this. You won't regret it.
