Art: This entire anime series has used facial expressions like nothing else I've watched. Particularly Revy in the actual series and Rock in this OVA. You can literally *see* his shifting character. Not to mention Roberta!
This features a lot of different scenes and each one is drawn to perfectly fit the emotions attached to it.
I guess what I'm saying is, the art style isn't anything you've never seen before but it's used to maximum effect and I think it's 10/10.
Sound: Mate. Maaaaaattteeee. I didn't even know arbitrary sound effects could be so important? I've always liked the unique sound of Revy's gun, I must say, but in Roberta's blood trail it's all about the sound effects surrounding Roberta that show exactly what is happening in her mind.
Character: I'm assuming if you're reading a review for this OVA you've watched Black Lagoon. The key character developments in order of decreasing extremity: Roberta, Rock, Garcia, Revy
I had mixed feelings about Roberta and Rock, but I will say no more. Rest assured, everything is believable and excellently portrayed (see comments on art and sound)
Enjoyment: I wouldn't be writing a review if I didn't enjoy the fuck out of this. I wish the whole thing hadn't happened (see comments below), but it was still a wild ride and Roberta was the terminator again so.
Overall: To tell you the truth, I prefer to keep the end of The Second Barrage as the ending in my head. Like I said, I have mixed feelings about the character 'developments' (can you really call what happens with Roberta and Rock development tbh), and frankly I just liked everyone better before the OVA. At least Chang wasn't revealed to be a raging dickhole back then...
Final comment: If you don't watch this OVA you didn't really finish Black Lagoon
