I've never seen anything like this show. It's not as though I haven't seen many anime, nor as if I've seen a lot. The thing about shows like this is that you can only watch them the first time once. Savor every second of it.

I can't be the only person out there wondering what it would be like to be able to go back into my childhood and fix certain things, even if mine was not touched with tragedy like the MC of this show. The show answers that what-if scenario and adds the necessary drama to draw in an audience.

Is friendship a theme?
Yes. This anime will make you think about how you treat your friends and how they treat you. Well maybe I'm projecting what it did to me onto the reader via second person here, but I think this is a pretty relatable theme. Do I have a buddy like Kenya I can count on? I think people go through lives without ever even really knowing kindness. It sucks to admit that I'm at a place in my life where I never kept any strong bonds like what goes on in this show.

Is the OP good?
Yeah. Can't go wrong with ASIAN KUNG-FU GENERATION. Don't skip it. I love the first sequence where Satoru and his childhood self sit next to each other in the theater. It made me think about how I've changed between childhood and now, sort of sad, nostalgic, foolish.

What doesn't work?
It's only 12 episodes. I'm satisfied, but I get the feeling certain things don't get fleshed out; however, that's only typical in the nature of an anime adaptation, so it can be mostly forgiven.

The hype about this show is legit. Don't let its over-exposure ruin things for you, haha.
