Upon first encountering Konosuba, one could easily write it off as a waste of time, something that doesn't allow its audience to dive deeper and get more involved. I would disagree. Lack of depth isn't something an anime should be criticized for. This anime had a refreshing sort of air to it, which made it actually very endearing and entertaining. The story was its only weak point, as there wasn't a traditional plot, just a series of adorable little quests, but even this wasn't much of a setback. Konosuba is't amazing, but it certainly does a good job of entertaining you throughout the course of the series. It isn't anything to get really into, it's just generally entertaining and is short enough in length and disjointed enough in plot to be very convenient for the audience. Konosuba's art seems average for modern anime, but I still appreciate their colorful and somewhat detailed designs. The soundtrack wasn't flawed in any way, but wasn't particularly impacting. Still, it suited the anime perfectly with its light tones. I specifically enjoyed the opening and ending to the track, as they were the most noticeable to me. The characters were adorable. A goddess tricked out of heaven, an otaku who got reincarnated as a hero, a pyromaniac witch, and a hilariously perverted and masochistic knight. Even the minor characters were priceless, like the wise old adventurer who gets seen at the succubus brothel. Still, there wasn't much character development and many of them seemed to be portrayed in an overly lewd manner. This wasn't too bothersome, but it didn't help that the characters had very little impact on me outside of humor. Overall, I truly enjoyed this anime. It's a great anime to watch when you've had a rough day and just want something to watch that won't make you angry, sad, or worried. It's just pure, lighthearted D&D questing, with goofy characters and simple punchlines. Not an anime I would recommend skipping.
