Berserk is held in very high regard. The story overall was decent. The first half of the show, I felt, was somewhat slow and was repetitive. Though it does build up slowly, the second half was immensely better and became more and more intriguing until the very end. The ending and style of the last few episodes are what made the show, in my opinion.
Characters: 6 (Fair)
The characters all seemed pretty generic to me. Though, I'll admit there is a lot of depth and backstory for the main characters. That being said, I still didn't feel a connection to any of them, aside from Guts, the main protagonist.
Animation: 5 (Mediocre)
In regards to the animation, everyone uses the excuse that it's old. Yes it's old, but there are plenty of older shows with much better animation. It's bland, somewhat dark, and lacking. Even the blood sprays looked generic and unappealing.
Sound: 7 (Good)
The sound was good. I liked both the intro and outro. The sounds of swords clashing, voices, and everything else were all good. The soundtrack was iffy to me, due to my personal taste, but otherwise was fine.
Overall: 6.25 (Above Average; Worth Watching)
Though I mentioned certain things weren't good or I didn't like somethings, overall, the show was good. I can't express how the second half is immensely better than the first. I also have to state again, that the setting, style, and events that happen in the last few episodes really justify everyone's opinion, and make the show.
