As with a lot of animes on MAL, the reviews tend to center around two distinct camps.
This anime is more glorious than Mikasa's ass
or
it's the second coming of the anime Antichrist.

Nichijou is no exception to this rule.

To make it more simple, most people either give it a 10 or a 4.

So I'm gunna give you my totally honest review thing.

Story:
The story of Nichijou is non-existent in effect. However, I think that's the point of it. It doesn't really strive to have continuation between episodes, I can't mark it down for not doing something deliberately, so I'll base this on more of a writing aspect. Nichijou can be funny, I would never disagree on that point but sometimes it fails.

It fails hard.

I could find myself trawling through episodes, desperate to find the last crumb of a gag left on the plate. Nichijou had me in stitches from time to time, but not enough. I don't want to have to sit through 2 hours of overly moe little girls doing dumb, cringy stuff to get a chuckle (at the least).

It really was a double-edged sword, some episodes i'd give a 9 whereas some i'd give a 3. So I'll give it a 6

Story (Writing) 6/10

Art: I actually liked the art of Nichijou, not because i'm some lolicon who gets off to eyes the size of grapefruits but because the style complimented the humor alongside the show. The varying styles mixed with various different tones, sometimes being polar opposites of each other; while this may seem strange, it worked well and the humor itself was bolstered by it.

While I say nice things about the art, it wasn't some ground-breaking, artsy af show which left me speechless.

Art 7/10

Sound:

I actually love a lot of the sound aspects in Nichijou. The OP is catchy and encapsulates the fun atmosphere of the show, while the SFX of the show are very well done. To me, a good set of sounds is one where I don't notice any flaws. It all blended pretty seamlessly, with quite fitting ambient music dotted throughout the show.

8/10

Character:

I actually liked the characters. Robo-ho especially, although the wind up bullshit was annoying. They were all quirky, special characters who made me giggle every now and then. I honestly don't have the time or the willpower to do an in depth analysis of each character. In general, the spread of characters is well done, with a few being below par (being very annoying some times).

Character 7/10

Enjoyment:

This is the hardest question of them all, but I think the point of Nichijou is simply for a laugh or too. I'll leave out the enjoyment rating because, well ... that is the overall rating for a show like this. All of the above factors, so graciously recommended by MAL really all translate into overall enjoyment.

This is most true with a show like this.

Overall:

PROS :

- Some good gags, goofs and chuckles thrown in throughout
- Interesting characters
- Well integrated art style
- Good soundboard and OP

CONS:

- Tries a bit too hard to be funny sometimes, and fails
- Some Japanese humor is lost on the English speakers (Con for English speakers only)
- Suffers badly from the 'Seth MacFarlane' style of long, drawn out jokes.
This can explain better than I ever could

- A few occasionally annoying characters

So overall i'd give it a 6.5 (verging on a 7), this show varies heavily in quality throughout. Its bearable on average, and good in its best. If you were to watch it, I'd recommend watching 1 episode every now and again, otherwise it'll run thin fast.

Overall 6.5/10

Think my review is awful and you want to insult me about it, leave a comment on my profile x

Or if you just wanna chat about the show i'm also there.
