Mixed Feelings
Gangsta started off as a genuinely interesting anime, with the first half of the show being mostly character driven episodes which got pretty intense at times. The second half... Well the second half shows its true colors with uninteresting villains, difficult to follow politics at times and an overall cliché shōnen vibe with just about everything.

This anime tries to deal with themes such as drug abuse, prostitution, and troubled childhoods to name a few. These themes themselves can be pretty heavy and Gangsta would have dealt with them well if only it was consistent with how the show started. Everything after the first 8 or so episodes abandons character development and these interesting themes in place of a typical seinen action anime, which in itself does not have some of the most interesting fights typical to the genre. The story at this point has also become bland so there's nothing to really keep your interest.

TL;DR Gangsta had a promising beginning with decent character development and interesting themes but the anime fails to remain consistent and falls apart after episode 8.
