Plastic Memories is an anime that you will either Love or Hate starting from the first episode. When I first started watching it early March, I didn't really have high hopes for it, but I was soon surprised by a hidden gem and boy was it a surprise of a roller coaster of emotion.

Plastic Memories is set in a not so distant future were human-like androids called Giftia programmed with a synthetic "soul" are a part of our everyday society. There's just one flaw: a Giftia can only live 81,920 hours (about nine years and four months) before their memories fade and they become mindless violent zombies.

Here we are introduced to Tsukasa Mizugaki, after failing his collage entrance exame, he lands a job at SAI Corporation (the company responsable for creating the Giftia) and is assigned to the Terminal Service Department, whose purpose is to reclaim the expired Giftia.

Surrounded by Giftia and partnered with the beautiful and clumsy Giftia - Isla, Mizugaki must come to terms with the short life spa of these life-like androids.

At first we are lured in, with the first episodes with a lot of emotion and light comedy but then the series starts to decline into cliché jokes and mild fan service before finally redeeming itself with finale.

Story 7/10 :

It's starts slow with some funny scenes and you might start the believe it's another cliché anime but slowly evolves and blossoms into an original romantic slice of life that teaches us hope to cope with the loss of someone we truly love.

Art 8/10 :

It's really colorful and very well drawn, the characters change outfits depending on the situation and space and there is no weird mix of 2D and 3D elements and some animes try force our throats.

Character 7/10 :

There is some really good character development from Mizugaki and Isla, and we soon see how their relationship blossoms.

They really care for each other and it's not a cliché love relationship were the characters are so afraid to confess to each other that the anime ends without even a declaration of love, their development is really life-like and you can't stop yourself from rooting for their love, but it sometimes get short on premises and then you are bitch-slapped into reality that this is not a perfect anime.

Overall I give it an 7.2/10 .
