So this is my first review and it ain't gonna be like how other professional reviewers write them. I'll start with this. I'm a die hard fan of Oregairu and re watched the first season like uncountable times cause of the humor and the light atmosphere and storyline. That being said, I'll now move on to the second season. I'm probably too late to warn anyone from what they're about to see in this anime but hopefully whoever sees this braces themselves before they watch this, reasons to be mentioned.
So the art, story and sound are nothing much to review about, I truly felt it was all very well done like the previous season, except the story which was a tad bit more darker and dramatic which kind of made me a little frustrated because as the title says, it's a romantic comedy, I don't know about anyone else but for me, the story was a bit dramatic and dark compared to the first season which was humorous and not so much drama.
Now we'll begin with character, honestly I was annoyed by 2 characters which I really really liked from season 1. Firstly, Yukinoshita Yukino. She was awesome and wonderful when I first met her in the first season, however over season 2, it just seems like she's having never ending mood swings. The title says this contain spoilers but it's only if I accidentally spoil it, as much as I can, I will try not to. So yeah, the mood swings never stop, in s1 she's okay with Hikki's methods but suddenly she's not? What? Why? Well apparently, watch the anime to find out why. Secondly would be none other that Yukinoshita Haruno, the more hotter version of her younger sister. Her character in season 1 was purely mentor-typed and comedy relief, but somehow in this season, she shifted into like a semi-antagonistic villain who can make anyone into her enemy anytime.
Despite all this, I still rate character highly as there are some additions of nice characters. For instance, my number one favorite female character throughout this season, Ishikki Iroha. Honestly, somewhere in the middle of the season, I gave up on Hikki x Yukino and went for Hikki x Irohas. Well this technically is a spoiler as those who haven't watched will not know her, sorry about that, I just had to mention that I really enjoyed the show basically cause of her appearance, she was comedic, at the same time, dramatic, but not too dramatic either, just the right balance. I would mention more characters, but for now this is enough.
As for enjoyment, well as described by character and show, I think that says it all. Plus minus the good and bad altogether, I give it a 6. I still enjoyed it but not as much as the previous season. To all the hardcore fans of Oregairu, I say this not as a hater but as a fan myself, that this was a tad bit too dark and dramatic for what seems to be a romantic comedy. Hope this helps people who have not watched it but would read this anyways.
