Mixed Feelings
This show was ok it was not bad it was not brilliant it was just ok. I watched this show assuming it would be one of the best slices of bread you can get from the anime culture as some people tend to talk about it a bit, however I didn't find the hype of it most of the time.

Story 5/10:

The story has a cool concept a future where the world relies on magic high schools to train magicians for war. The story is a bunch of arcs the first being an introduction to the 20 or more characters in the first 2 to 4 episode. This one section of the story focused on introducing so many characters that is took over most of the first few episodes. The second arc is a magic competition between magic schools. This part would have been a lot more interesting if eight episodes of it did not feel like filler. The last arc which I will not say for spoiler reasons was actually good and worth watching. The series did have some epic moments that I thought where pretty awesome however most of those do not happen for the second half of the series.

Art 10/10:

This anime had some of the most beautiful animation I seen in an anime. This includes the magic animations and the animations for effects like fire and ice. There are some 3D animations as well which where done pretty well. The only problem I have is some of the censoring in certain scenes where stuff gets really violent however I cant say anymore about this with out spoiling the show so I will leave it at that for the art.

Sound 7/10:

There was no music other then the openings that really got to me. The usual background music is usually instrumental while the other half of the music is a woman singing really fast while rock rythms play.

Character 6/10:

I mentioned how the first arc was pretty much introducing 20 characters, the problem with this is that you tend to easily forget that many people very quick. They do try to develop them later but as the viewer you would not really get to attached to character unless they do something memorable right after they are introduced. When I ever watch a anime I tend to remember the names of 90% of the characters but for this show I cant. The good news is that there where some characters that I liked but that was only in the second half of the show.

I want to talk about the main character Tatsuya who you can call pretty much a god considering how OP he is. I tend to really like the OP characters but this guy its complicated. He is literally in my top five most OP characters but that is all there is to his character. He is metaphorically a blank slate that has been drawn on slightly and given the powers of god. He is set up to be a flunky in the school but he can do in reality the most metal things possible. Any thing interesting about or gives him any character like his past is thrown out the window leaving the slate uncompleted. There was a lot of opportunities to make his character more likable but they blew it.

Enjoyment 5/10:

The last arch was really good but the slow pace of the competition arch really reduced the enjoyment factor out of the show.

Overall 6/10
