Preliminary (12/13 eps)
Noragami S2 picked off a season with a lot of promise and delivered.

Nowadays I find a lot of animes to have good parts then also really bad parts which create this paradox where one minute you're enjoying the watch only to be ruined by something unnecessary. Noragami didn't do that all (or it did and I forgot).

The pacing was great and every episode was jam packed with significant events and great moments. Then there's the story which has a good balance of "the unknown" and new curve balls to allow the plot to thicken. All the questions you had in Season 1 are answered in Season 2 only to be replaced by more for Season 3 (god willing). Honestly the execution of the story is just great.

The fight scenes were not UBW level spectacular but were enjoyable enough. There were no "overpowering" moments that questioned your suspension of belief like in a lot of shonen (well until the end). And there is no long-winded screaming or power-ups that many find too clique in this genre. It's rather refreshing actually. In terms of improvement, the phantoms could do with a significant upgrade in style but its not a big deal. Essentially this is a light version of Bleach but in a good way.

The character development is awesome. All the main characters (the 3) get significant screen time to develop and you end up appreciating their role in the story. The protagonist God particularly is interesting in the sense that he has a dark past which still isn't fully revealed while presenting a totally opposite to him for the majority of the story. He somehow changed significantly to what he is now and we want to know how. The conflict he is always faced with, actually what all the main characters they are faced with makes the story the more fascinating. Their roles are developing quickly while addressing their internal conflicts at the same time.

Aesthetics were all very enjoying. The soundtrack, the art, animation and humour were all spot on for a westerner such as myself. I laughed a few times and I'm difficult to please.

Overall I really loved this season because the writer/animation studio exercised moderation in all the key places and presented the story at a great pace. Getting all the smaller things right made for an very fun experience because I wasn't annoyed at a dumb protagonists or felt exhausted from putting up with poor pacing or japanese humour like I tend to come across. If you like the premise behind this story, this is a must watch. There was not a single moment where I was bored. That's the biggest positive.
