STORY: 8/10
While the synopsis that I read for this show didn't seem like it would be for me, I decided to try it on a whim because of a recommendation from a friend of mine. Trust me, the story is good. It manages to pace itself surprisingly well, and even the few episodes I would consider filler are really enjoyable and added some aspect of characterization to the show. It follows some genre tropes, and it's intentionally cheesy at times, but it always manages to make it feel authentic, which should be applauded in a medium where so many shows neglect this.
ART: 8/10
While the art style isn't the best for a 2012 anime, the use of contrasting colors results in a unique and always-interesting art style that is very appealing to the eye. Because of this method of coloring, the fight scenes always feel fresh and welcome.
SOUND: 9/10
The music in this show is stellar. The original opening themes are catchy and fitting. The ending theme is also, as it samples different parts of the song "Roundabout" by Yes!. The music in the show is great as well, as it uses different genres of music to appropriate the atmosphere and the music is always very well placed. The voices in the dub aren't the best, as expected, but they're not annoying and fit the characters quite nicely.
CHARACTER:
Though, after the 9th episode, our perspective switches to another generation of Joestars, the main character(s) (which is always a JoJo lol) are always likable. There isn't a lot of character development, really the only you'll find here is in the shounen sense, in that the characters get stronger and gain new abilities (think Dragon Ball Z). Still, the characters manage to stay interesting throughout.
ENJOYMENT: 10/10
The only category I can be completely subjective on, I enjoyed this show A LOT. Its's now one of my favorites, and I can't wait to watch Stardust Crusaders and the 4th entry to the series this year.
OVERALL: 8.5/10
I think most people will enjoy this anime, once it picks up, so I recommend watching the series through. You won't regret giving JoJo a chance.
