Watching this was like being on a rollercoaster. What drew me to look into this was the cover photo. While the plot seemed nothing out of the ordinary, the reviews were pretty bad. Starting with the plot; Japan is in a crisis from an outbreak virus. The main character stumbles across a girl who gives him an ability to do amazing things for the greater good. From there, these 2 characters along with their allies make friends and enemies, working against the government. Almost every episode was depressing, there was little light at the end of the tunnel, and by the end of it, the ending wasn't pleasant. Sure, not everything needs a happy ending. But c'mon, you're just setting up the audience to be disappointed. If there were more upbeat moments and a stronger development in the relationship between the two main characters, then it would've been a lot better. The story just throws so many feelings at you. With that said, the characters are a positive, and will be one of the main reasons you watch this all the way through. They're likable and have great personalities, if you can put aside the gullibility of the main character. The art is breathtaking. The colors, angles, characters, scenes where voids are used. It's all beautiful. Probably the best looking art in any cartoon or anime I've seen. People really don't exaggerate with review for visuals. Lastly, if it wasn't for the art and characters my review would've been a lot lower. If you don't mind a not so happy ending, watch it. It was enjoyable if you can get past that.
