Anyway, the characters were great, minus the red-headed dipshit, the art was outstanding, and it was a very riveting story, that made you always either tense, laughing, or nodding my head in approval. The Holy Grail itself was not explained very well, however, and explanation thrown in at the last couple episodes, which builds on Fate/Zero, so you almost have to watch that first. You should watch it first anyway just for the backstory and the awesomeness of Alexander the Great.

The holy grail was kind of just a hole in the sky that bled...and made a fleshy mountain that was a monster...I guess. And it didn't grant wishes it kinda just murdered the fuck out of whoever touched the blood/magic curse water that flowed out of it. And it basically made no sense. but it looked cool.
Shirou is Archer but Archer is so much better in every way. Shirou pissed me off so much. If you know your path is going to make you a miserable, murdering (although badass), eternal assassin slave for "the world", then you might wanna change that. Especially if your future self is even willing to kill his past and erase himself to change his future. That is a huge hint towards "Don't choose this path it will fuck you so bad", and he even tells him that the people he chooses to fight for betray him and hang him and then when he becomes a guardian to protect, "the world" just has him slaughter people that will drastically change or endanger humanity. Btw where the fuck was "the world" as far as hitler was concerned but anyway. Still. Who in the fuck just says "I dont care." when they are told all that shit. So much character problems and stupidity when it comes to Shirou.
Also he is passive agressive with Rin...like just fucking kiss her or sleep with her or both jesus christ they live together for fucks sake and both admitted they like eachother. Its like he is a mostly emotionless robot unless he is fighting. Fucking bullshit.
