Chuunibyou demo Koi ga Shitai is a show that reminds me of why I first fell in love with anime. It manages to tell a touching story that is familiar in my heart, yet not familiar to my eyes and memory. It has characters that have character, music that evokes emotion, and manages- as a show- to leave me with a profound state of mind as it all comes to a close.
Story: The story of Chuunibyou demo Koi ga Shitai is an interesting one, with sadness, happiness and a clear message to give to the viewer. Chuunibyou manages to weave a beautiful story around a club of students struggling with their transition to adulthood. The story's high points are when it tries to emphasize this message and express the beauty in childlike imagination to the audience, yet it's weak link is less what it did wrong, and more what it didn't do: the story did not move for the other characters; a good contrast to this problem would be the show Sakurasou no pet na kanojo, which manages to have all the characters' stories have a start and a conclusion. This show ultimately just lacked a good resolution for everything outside of it's starstruck couple.
Art: The art matches the story well. The characters are animated to look very innocent and gentle. It is not animated "realistically" but in this scenario, it works perfectly, complimenting the story's soft and meaningful message about why playful imagination is a redeeming and beautiful quality.
Sound: This show's greatest achievement in "sound" is it's music, which manages to add another level of emotion to it's scenes. The music swells, grows or softens in all the perfect places, woven perfectly together with the animation and voice acting.
Character: This area received the lowest score from me due to how badly fleshed out the relationships between the characters were, especially in regards to the main supporting male protagonist, Makoto Isshiki. Whereas shows like Toradora, Sakurasou, and Steins;Gate set aside entire episodes to expand the stories of the supporting cast, Chuunibyou could not even afford a few minutes for them.

Overall, I loved the show, it made me very happy, but it lacked the polish that I appreciated in the true masterpiece animes I've viewed in the past, such as Shigatsu wa kimi no uso, or Steins;Gate. So this show will get a 9 from me, even though it is realistically more a high 8.8 ish rating.
