Preliminary (1/24 eps)
When I found out that such an anime exists, I was rather interested, so I dounloaded it and began watching. And I obviously couldn't make myself watch it more than 10 minutes. I've read Duma's Comte de Monte-Cristo twice and never got tired of it, I really love that wonderful book.
And because of that, I dropped that anime. In many ways it is really entertaining, and may be interesting to someone. One of the advantages of this anime - Nakata Jouji voicing Edmon Dantes. But it seems to me that it's the only real advantage I can find.
First, the textures. I't s OK if you like the way patterns on the clothes are made in Gankutsuou, but, in my opinion, Gonzo could have done it in a better way.
Then, the story. The only things in common betwen the book and this anime are the characters and the idea maybe. Though I hardly can judge it after not completing even the first episode, but changing the place from Paris to the Moon was a rather poor move.
So, to sum up, if you want just to watch to something, then you can try this. But if you have already read the book, you better forget that this anime exists. I don't think Duma would have liked what Gonzo have done to one of the best his books.
