If you enjoy the ecchi/harem anime but are tired of the flaky male archetype who never picks a girl and the 'harem chase' ending makes you feel like you wasted your time then this is the show for you. The main character in Rakudai Kishi no Cavalry is a respectable dude who isn't a pervert, like many ecchi anime protags, and doesn't get the crap kicked out of him whenever it's time to knuckle up. The strongest quality of this anime is that, for the genre, it provided a solid romance that didn't involve an ultra-violent tsundere constantly abusing her partner.

Story:

This is your typical battle school anime where a special class of humans have powers which normal people do not. The plot is centered around a regional qualifier where the prize is admission to a national tournament called "The Seven Star Sword Art Festival".

Art:

Average but good, this is the baseline for what I'd expect in an anime and I don't have to many comments about it. The only thing that I disliked is that in certain episodes new art styles are used in certain situations where they were never used before, skill activation for instance and it doesn't seem to serve any purpose other than to highlight the intensity of the situation.

Characters:

Read the wikipedia entry, I've already wrote what I thought of the main characters in the opening paragraph.

Sound:

Honestly this is the least memorable aspect of this anime.

Enjoyment/overall:

After watching a lot of ecchi/harem animes with the spineless male and bitchy ultra violent tsundere archetype this was a breath of fresh air. I went into this series with low expectations and they were blown out of the water. If you were planning on skipping over this one I'd recommend checking it out if you enjoy romance and are tired of the typical ecchi/harem tropes.
