Before starting with this review i want to say that it will cover both season, Noragami and Noragami Aragoto, however, i will try not to spoil anything of any season.

Yato is a god, and because he is a god the reason of his existence is to fulfill the wishes of normal people. The problem is that a normal wish needs not only a God, yet by a Shinki (a human soul that can transform into a weapon by being called by its god) and the god itself.
That is the problem that follows Yato, his last Shinki quit her job and he is unable to fulfill those wishes by himself. The reason of the necessity of a weapon is simple, if you feel depressed, angry, nervous, or any bad feeling it creates an Ayakashi. Similar to a Shinki an Ayakashi is a spirit but in this case those spirit represents those moods. To make the wish come true, the god needs a weapon in order to kill the Ayakashi that has the intention of doing bad things to the people.
Noragami starts like that but the reason for Yato of doing such things is for fame, yes, thats it, he wants to be recognised as a god and want people to pray him.

In general the story is very good, it has a good progression and its interesting and its good to see a shonen where you dont need +20 episodes to see a clearly improvement. The synopsis can or can not convince you to watch the series, but it doesnt really matter because it doesnt focus a lot in killing Ayakashis but it has side characters as well with their stories.

In terms of characters is where i think this series shines the most, they are all likeable, they are all funny and their are all important, its normal to find animes where there are 5 characters in the complete series and thats it, the rest are useless and boring, well, this doesnt happen in Noragami, every character has its back story and their reason to be there.
Another positive aspect of the characters are, as I said before, their backstories, we now only some things about some characters, but the way they relate each other in the past as gods or spirits is interesting and i find it very clever from the author of the manga because it can create relationships between them in so many different ages and it wont seem like it has been pulled out of nowhere.

Speaking about the animation i have to said that is good enough, it surely isnt the best but its good, I have to say, however, that Noragami isnt a shonen where you need flashy animation because even if it involves supernatural creatures and spirits, it only uses swords or guns as weapons, no magic or anything like that.
Despite the fact its surely isnt the anime with the most flashy fight scenes, the animation is fluid and correct though and it shines when it has to.

I think that the worst part of this anime comes from the Soundtrack, itself its amazing, the songs are catchy and the style of Japanese/Indian/Arabic music is truly good, but, have you seen the error?. If not, i will tell you. This is a story based on the Japanese folklore, one their religion, the Japanese Budism, well, its not like it variates a lot from the others in a general view, but it has to do with their gods, as they differ depending on the location and variety of the Budism so in terms of music, some folk music and less of Arabic style would have been better in my personal opinion, but dont get me wrong, the soundtrack is pretty good and there are some songs that accomplish my condition.
Apart from that, i think the vibe of the music is also something that could have been better, being the setting the actual world, i think the correct thing would have been to make the vibe more youthful, like more funky music or a rock style like in the openings, that I think they transmit that feeling, there are also some songs with those vibes but those are 2 or 3 songs in a 24 songs OST.
The other tendency of this OST are the creepy songs that are put in scenes related to the Ayakashis, i personally love them and think they are exactly what those scenes need.
There are also some dramatic songs but they are your tipical Piano solo, they are OK, but nothing unremarkable.

In terms of enjoyment this anime truly is enjoyable, its has a lot of humour and jokes yet also some dramatic scenes and the accion scenes are very good too, it also has to do with a bit of romance so it covers a lot of genres.
I personally like this anime, but I dont consider it something that new or fresh, it offers an enjoyable ride with good action and good characters, nothing more, nothing less.

PD: If you plan to watch this anime, please stop Noragami at episode 9/10, after that it starts with a totally invented story without sense. After that continue at Noragami Aragoto.
