I would discover that those were the biggest quality of Kill la Kill. An anime that don't takes itself seriously, and to prove it they created the more crazy, inconsistent and incomprehensible world they could. The first 12 episodes presents it very well. It is surrounded of ridiculous situations that makes unfunny jokes funny. It takes sexual objectification so far that it turns into another comical gimmick, you almost forget it is there. Even the serious social criticism is camouflaged in the middle of it all.
After the climax that Kill la Kill reaches in the 11th episode Kill la Kill never reaches it peaks again. The anime suddenly takes itself more seriously in the second half. It basically turns into one of THOSE animes where mankind seeks transcend itself and became gods/ kill but lose its own humanity in the process. It is not a giant gimmick neither a satire, where in the end you have a punchline, Kill la Kill take is seriously and by far this is the worst part of the series. The art became incompatible to what Kill la Kill turn itself, and finally the upshot came, with a very frustrating end.
Although these flaws, the second half is where the characters are truly developed (Satsuki is simply awesome, Mako a badass, and senketsu the best cloth I never gonna wear) and full of great and epic moments, but a little overshadowed by its problems.
Kill la Kill over complicates itself and destroy the magic that is a world where everybody lives naked.
If fears is freedom, control is liberty and contradiction is truth, than Kill la Kill is bad, and good. A true contradiction.
