This anime masterfully leads you on expectation road with a few breadcrumb baits just watching your mouth water then takes a few turns you really could not expect. The thing that is great about this anime is that you always think the story is going in another direction and then it sucker punches you. Slightly slow beginnings may keep some viewers away but I would implore you to at least watch at least five episodes before you make your judgment.
Shinsekai Yori is now my favorite anime of all time because of the beautiful mix of story, character development, and art making this an instant classic in my eyes. As developed as the world is, I was convinced this must have been based on an incredibly long book series because the attention to detail is probably better than any anime I've ever seen. I cannot think of any inconsistencies to be honest, everything has an explanation and it truly is well thought out.
This anime will be well worth your time.
