I've re-watched enough High School DxD to give this:

Story (10):
I'm a sucker for badass, somewhat dense, main hero who still has a focus on his #1 but adds more to the mix. The story blazes through the visual novels like a wildfire, however mediates to the animation. Adding every small detail from the Light Novel would not really impact the story.

Art (10):
As you watched through High School DxD, there is a visual upgrade in art in the BD from Season 1 to Season 2. (Obviously there has to be an upgrade over the years or else people will complain.)

Sound (9):
The S2 soundtrack is somewhat similar to S1, but lacks the depressing/tragic overtone I liked when hearing Rias' theme song Shinsou no, Ojou-sama desu. The classical music, I'm very fond of, trends to battle.

Character (10):
The appearance of Xenovia, Irina, Vali, and Azazel are critical in the progression of the anime. Rias will still get screen time, more than the others, but the backstory is important. The development of the characters are not rapid.

Enjoyment (10):
I adore the series, even if it turned out this way.

Overall (10):
If you like your ecchi anime bundle, included with harem, and godlike powers, this is the perfect anime for you.
