STORY-5/10
So its a bunch of wizards fighting for their friends to the death where no one actually dies except when third parties are involved. Or flashbacks. My main problem is that each villain progressively gets more and more difficult to fight throughout each arc, to the point where villains in Season 1 seem like complete pushovers compared to the current villains. With a few exceptions here and there, mainly in Jellal and Laxus.
ART-8/10
Whoever did the art did a decent job, nice animation, good character models (even if Natsu looks like a dork), nice job whoever did this.
SOUND-9/10
Great OST, considered some of the best in anime (at least until 2012-ish). Nice rock and catchy tune, with beautiful emotional OST's. My only complaint is that the composer decided to stay with electric guitar and never expand much further than that, but hey it worked.
CHARACTER-4/10
I don't like to rant that much in reviews, but the characters were...kinda bad. So Natsu never changes at all, Lucy's annoying sometimes, Erza is so over/underpowered in everything, and Gray's stripping habit got annoying after a while too. Decent enough personality quirks, but being a long anime, they do get boring and the lack of any real character growth bothers me.
ENJOYMENT-6/10
So I have a bit of a confession. When I first watched this show, I absolutely loved it. Great music, animation, funny (enough) characters, I could see even now how this show could've gotten its popularity. But now, I see tons of flaws everywhere and I kinda don't like it as much anymore. That and the F***ING FANSERVICE. But dem fights are on point and music be good, so 6/10 for me.
OVERALL-7/10
So Fairy Tail isn't that bad if you're a casual viewer like me, but there are some really annoying moments in the show that make you want to shoot some of the characters in the head. But if you are a shonen fan and you kinda liked One Piece and Naruto, then you would probably like this, considering how this is pretty much a carbon copy of all the major shonen tropes smashed into one show.
