The second season of SAO. I don't know why they call it that since SAO ended at episode 14. I also don't know what evil force compelled me to watch the second season since the first season was terrible. This season is slightly better than the first one but it is still terrible.

WARNING: SPOILERS

The story is divided into 3 arcs. The first story arc takes place in a game called Gun Gale Online. The government sends 17 years old kirito(and not a trained investigator) to investigate a murderer named Death Gun who can kill people by shooting their in-game avatars.

We are introduced to a new character called Sinon. Her first appearence was as a sniper while the camera continuously focused on her ass. She is afraid of guns because of an incident. So to overcome her fear she plays GGO. This is really illogical. If i was afraid of dogs, I wouldn't go to a pet shop from time to time to overcome my fears. However, she soon becomes part of Kirito's harem and immediately becomes forgotten as the first arc ends.

The first arc itself seemed promising. Thaere should have been gun fights and some real strategy. But Kirito uses a freaking lightsaber to cut through bullets and overpowering the enemy. What the hell? One would have to be a god to actually time a slash and hundreds of bullets coming together at once. But Kirito does it with ease. As if he wasn't overpowered enough.

It also has a nasty habit of repeating everything that happened few minutes before in words. Why the hell would I want to hear the things I have already seen. It does nothing but drag out an episode and make it REALLY boring. It ends with yet another deus ex machina but thankfully, it wasn't as outrageous as the first season.

The second arc revolves around Kirito and gang trying to save Alfeim Online from being deleted. Apparently if they do not complete a certain quest it would result in the deletion of the game(whaaat!!!). I have given up on logic and common sense at this point so nothing to do. Klein gets some screentime though which is always a good thing.

The third arc is about Asuna making some new friends online and struggling with her parents. And no Kirito(YAS!!!). It's full of cheap melodrama where the anime tries to make the viewer cry by introducing a new character and giving her AIDS. We are supposed to fell sad for someone who I don't know anything about other than the fact thaat she has AIDS. It was cheap and forcd and didn't work at all.

Other than the fact that it was slightly better than the first season it doesn't have anything else going for it. It was still bad, but not offendingly bad as the first season. It's as if the writers knew they were stupid and didn't try to hide the fact anymore.

In the end, I wouldn't recommend it to anyone who watched the first season unless he's a SAO fanatic. It's still a stupid waste of time.
