Freshman in college here: Freshman 15? no. Key 15 more like.

This anime is quite uncharacteristic of a Key animation plot. This carries on until it hits you like a large vehicle, apologizes, backs up, and proceeds to run you over again. The plot literally destroyed my mind; if it were not for the plethora of plot conveniences, the meter goes up to 11. Art reminded me of clannad, especially with the correlation of MC2 to Kotomi. Unfortunately, sound did not live up to expectations of Jun Maeda's work. It definitely still beats other anime in sound track however, but I wouldn't expressively download any of the OST to listen personally. Character design is not basic. A basic character design would've made a boring anime to watch, but saved it from the torment of disappointed viewers. MC is just goaded by plot conveniences into some deranged badass with emotional problems. This problem introduces itself into many other popular titles, such as Death Note or Irregular at Magic Highschool, but is the easiest way for a large viewerbase to sympathize with MC. All other characters seem to be tailor made to this badassery of a MC. Disregarding this problem, seeing as the quick pacing of the anime distracted from the fact, the enjoyment I got from this anime is equal to that of a 2 season anime, without filler episodes, compressed into 13 jam packed episodes of pure confliction in my mind. I felt as though I had spent a whole day watching this anime, even though a mere 6 hours had passed. The pacing is not one that could be dissolved had I watched the episodes one by one; this anime depends on viewer emotion to develop bonds between the character and the viewer. I feel as though Key could have benefited from having 2 seasons, although filler episodes would have destroyed the juggle combo that seems to pace the story. If key could have had 16 episodes to work with, and extra budget to accommodate, this anime could have surpassed key's own clannad at the top of my list.
