Mixed Feelings
Just a quick review. At first view Charlotte would be one of the best anime of the season. Good animation studio, nice writer and good producers. Unfortunatelly it doesn't show well as expected.

Story: 5
The first episode shows a different reality of how the series develop. The ups and downs are quite frequently and occur suddently, giving the implying a certain rush in cover the storyboard in just 13 episodes. Another problem is all the way like "hero's journay" but without major loses.

Art: 8
The artwork is really good. As expected of PA Works, they kept the great quality of the Key animes.

Sound: 8
The last association of PA Works and Key was Angel Beats!, and the music was simply another main character in the series. With Charlotte the music isn't bright as AB! but has its importance. But everything as expected.

Character: 5
The previous char from Key's works were a lot better and complex, and the storyline help them to improve. Charlotte presents us such simple characters, they are predictable. The story doesn't force any psychological analysis.

Enjoyment: 6
Predictable story. They tried to put a little climax in every episode and this wrecked the turn around of the history and then you watch the episode knowing that something will happen.

Overall: 6
Below the expectations for a Key's work. Poor history, simple characters, no over-psychological analysis. The only deep analysis I can do about the history is the importance of the teenage for the country, as the suicide rate at this age has increased in Japan. The technical aspects as artwork and sound/music was O.K., as expect, but the rest was below the avarage.
I recommend for the newcomers to watch Clannad and Kanon (2006), they are the traditional Key animes and way better.
